UPDATE 10/14/2024 – A visit to the work site on the Victory trails and here is everything that has been done so far on repairs and improvements on the pipeline from Tug Mtn to the Partridge Hill area by the Lunenburg Snowmobile Club. Please consider helping us to support this trail work with a donation.
- dug 2-3 dozen water ditches to control runoff, plus routed constant seeping drainage on two steep hills.
- As we traveled the whole route, some rocks were removed.
- Over a dozen truckloads of stone were staged at Tug Mtn Rd. Another two loads were delivered to the pipeline west of River Road at the eroded hill.
- Taking delivery of heavy equipment Wed 10/16 and will be spreading stone on the pipeline near Rogers Brook. Stone will also be spread on the eroded hill west of River Road.
- A few flooded spots were drained along the route. We repaired a few culvert collapses too. Next year some more touch-ups will be needed.
- Identifed two critical equine bypass locations where mud was a problem. Continue to work with Luke O’Brien on other repairs, especially the Rogers Bridge replacement and EX61 washout.
A generous Vermont Horse Council member has donated $2000 for a dollar for dollar matching grant.
The Victory Trail loops in the Northeast Kingdom were severely damaged during July 2024 flooding. VHC is working cooperatively with the Lunenburg Polar Bears Snowmobile Club who is supplying materials and heavy equipment. Funding will allow the heavy equipment to be used for muddy areas on the trail that are currently not safe for equines as well as to add equine friendly footing to the edge of the repaired snowmobile trails.
Would you please help us by matching this gift and growing the total trail repair funds to $6000?
