Wonder why supporting the Vermont Horse Council is “worth the cost”?  In just the last three weeks volunteers have been advocating for the equine industry in the following ways:

  • Attendance at three County Farm Bureau Legislative events where they are helping to socialize the fact that Equine Businesses in Vermont deserve to be recognized as agriculture and to be afforded the same treatment as other farmers in the state.
  • Attendance at three House agriculture committee meetings, giving testimony for equitable treatment within Current Use Statues as other farmers in the state.
  • Attended the State Outdoor Recreational Day at the State Capitol to assure equestrians are given equal access to the trail networks throughout the state.
  • Attended Tourism Listening sessions in both Rutland and Stowe to assure the equestrian voice is heard and recognized as a driver for income generation for the State.
  • Gave Public Comment to the Current Use Advisory Board so this large advisory group understands the inequities in the current statue so correction can be realized.
  • Met face to face with several members of the Vermont House and Senate to educate them about the financial and environmental stewardship impact of equine owners to the state economy
  • Presented the 2025 VHC Cooperative Agreement goals to the Agency of Natural Resources and Department of Forest Park and Recreation so that trail projects can be finalized.
  • Met with Green Mountain National Forest to finalize a connecting trail loop project within GMNF for 2025.
