The Vermont Horse Council is pleased and excited to be working collaboratively with the Lunenburg Polar Bears Club.  You might not be aware, but there are approximately 28 miles of gorgeous trails in Victory, VT that are shared (in addition to another ~75 miles of snow trails) with snowmobilers. Our two organizations would seem to be posed to have the perfect symbiotic relationship. Board of Director member, Lisa Lafont, and Lunenburg Polar Bears Club president, Mike Mutascio, are making that relationship flourish to the benefit of both.

The recent July flooding washed away large sections of the trail, compromised bridges and culverts and caused major shifts in the landscape resulting in severe mud sink holes on the equestrian/snowmobile trails.  Lisa and Mike met to collaborate on repair plans for the area which began September 3 and will continue through November 01.  Currently the trail is impassable for equestrian use.

We ask that all equestrians be aware of  heavy equipment work and refrain from trying to ride in the area.  Below is a brief map of the work area.  VHC will be announcing a dollar for dollar match up to $2000 (due to a generous donation from a private VHC member).  We hope to raise $6000 toward hemlock wood for safe horse lanes on all snowmobile bridges, mitigation of severely muddy areas on the trail and application of comfortable horse footing on the sides of all of the trails/slopes that are repaired during this reconstruction.
