Mt. Ephraim is a mostly wooded peak in Springfield, Vermont. The land is privately owned, but according to the Springfield Trail Guide, the landowners have given permission for the public to engage in “hiking and quiet recreational activities” there, and we are aware that horseback riders do access the property. The land is also home to Stellafane Observatory, a mecca for amateur astronomers in the Northeast.

See pages 12 & 13 of the Springfield Trail Guide for information.

  • Compare this map to a topographical view of the area in Google maps to get your bearings.

  • We do not know if the parking areas on the map can accommodate trailers but from the satellite image it appears that the Stellafane Observatory lot would.

  • The trail to the peak is somewhat rocky.
