Location: Forest Rd 54, Ripton, in Addison County
Google map & directions: Click here for parking and start of ride. To get there from Rt 125, turn onto Natural Turnpike road (FR 54) and follow for 3.5 miles. The road will narrow to almost a single lane. Stay to the left when you come up to the Y in the road and parking is shortly after on the right. It is not advisable to approach from the north on Natural Turnpike, due to rough road conditions (as of 2025).
Description: From Sparks Landing parking there are 4 different ways you can ride. To the right leaving the lot you can travel north on FR 54 (Natural Turnpike); at the fork stay right on Natural Turnpike where you can ride for hours, or take a left onto Alder Brook Rd, which is a quick out-and-back, ending at private property. If you go left out of the parking lot (south), at the fork turn left onto FR 59 (Steam Mill Rd.), which you can travel up for 4.7 miles until you hit Rt 125. Or go right at the fork to continue on Natural Turnpike (the road you drove in on).
Terrain: All four rides are on narrow gravel forest roads with low traffic and a few small hills.
Parking: A large parking area holds multiple trailers. There are occasionally others parked there.
